A Century Ago

This year we remember two tragedies that took place a hundred years ago. In March 1912 Robert Falcon Scott died, along with all the other members of his team on an ill fated attempt to be first to the South Pole. Then less than a month later, in April 1912 “The Titanic” hit an ice berg and sank on her maiden voyage to the USA. Here are some Haikus commemorating these two sad events.

Captain Robert Scott
Set off for The Antarctic
But never came home

On an epic voyage
The Titanic sailed away
But never came home

Scott died in the ice
The Titanic hit the ice
And neither came home

Scott and Titanic
Both one hundred years ago
Were lost to the ice

Let us remember
That year of such tragedy
Back in 1912
