As my talk at the Eastbourne Heritage Centre, on the history of Justices of the Peace, draws nearer, I can’t help remembering a talk I gave to another group some tome ago. At the end of the talk I asked if there were any questions. Several hands went up
The fist question was “Do Magistrates wear wigs and gowns like Judges?”
“No” I replied and added, without thinking “Magistrates don’t wear anything”
Not what I meant at all. That talk ended in somewhat riotous manner.
